Ubud Monkey Forest – Feel the beauty and serenity

One of the best things you should do in Ubud is enjoy the serenity and beauty of the Ubud Monkey Forest. There are natural oases that are sacred to the Balinese people, amazing temples, calm rivers, ancient and big trees, and hundreds of mischievous monkeys. The monkeys there roam freely, you can get an exciting experience mingling with the animals in their habitat.

Ubud Monkey Forest is preserved based on ancient Hindu principles that humans live in harmony with the environment and nature around them. There are about 700 monkeys, a safe place for them, but also of great spiritual significance for the local community.

There are hundreds of Balinese long-tailed monkeys living in the Ubud Monkey Forest, they are divided into several groups that live together. You can meet baby monkeys too because there are no barriers or fences, so monkeys like to live here by choice.

Ubud Monkey forest is a natural paradise for humans and animals, which can live naturally and the natural atmosphere is calm and sacred.

These monkeys are fed 3 times a day by the sanctuary staff. There are sweet potatoes, bananas, coconut, and papaya leaf. You are forbidden to feed the monkeys directly in order to maintain the health of the monkeys and prevent monkeys from jumping freely to visitors. But you can take pictures together with funny poses, but you need a guide to help you.

Ubud Monkey Forest area is about 30.8 hectares. It takes about 1.5-2 hours to go around the Monkey Forest enjoying nature and observing monkeys. The forest canopy provides coolness and protects you from the hot sun.

There are 3 temples in the forest. You will feel like a time traveler in a fairy tale land because you see monkeys jumping around the ancient temple, and surrounded by a large tree with hanging roots. You are not allowed to enter the temple because it is only for prayer.

Ubud Monkey Forest is open every day at 8.30 am – 6 pm, but the entry ticket limit is 5.30 pm. The best time to visit Ubud Monkey Forest is in the morning because the atmosphere is quiet and calm. But if you want to get good photos, come in the afternoon for sure because the light shining through the forest is good at that time.

Monkey Forest is located in Ubud village, at the edge of Monkey forest road about 1.5 hours drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Enjoy serenity and sanctity at Ubud Monkey Forest like playing in a fairy tale entitled ” Jungle of Book “.
