Serangan Island : Bali’s Hidden Gem Receives Minister’s Seal of Approval

Serangan Island is a small island connected to mainland Bali by a bridge.

This week, Minister Sanidaga Uno paid a visit to Serangan Tourism Village in Bali and couldn’t stop praising the island. Serangan Island is a small island connected to mainland Bali by a bridge. It has gained fame for its marine tourism and commitment to oceanic conservation. These factors, along with its stunning landscapes and hospitable locals, have put Serangan Village on the tourism map.

During his official visit, the charismatic Minister Uno declared, “The quality of this destination is world-class. I have traveled not only in Indonesia but also in other parts of the world.” He also remarked, “Serangan Tourism Village, along with other tourist villages in Bali Province, has advanced management practices that greatly empower the community. They just need to provide the necessary support.”

Highly impressed, Minister Uno further stated, “What stands out and is truly memorable and Instagram-worthy is the release of turtle hatchlings. It symbolizes sustainable development.”

Similar to Kuta, tourists are invited to participate in exciting turtle conservation activities on Serangan Island.

Just a short 20-minute drive from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Serangan Island is an ideal vacation destination. It offers affordable guesthouse accommodations, breathtaking coastal views, and proximity to some of Bali’s popular large-scale resorts, including Kuta and Sanur.

For those seeking access to Bali’s major resort areas without the hustle and bustle, Serangan Island is the perfect place to stay. The island boasts a delightful selection of locally run restaurants, many of which serve some of Bali’s finest seafood. There’s even a Starbucks for those who crave their signature coffee!

Beach enthusiasts and nature lovers will find themselves right at home on Serangan Island. The serene and crystal-clear waters of Serangan Beach are truly enchanting, and a visit to the hidden Serangan Blue Lagoon is an absolute must.

During Minister Uno’s visit, Deputy Mayor Arya Wibawa expressed his affection for this hidden gem while speaking to the press. “With all its beauty and potential, we hope that Serangan Tourism Village can become the best and the leading tourism village in Indonesia by 2023,” he said.

Deputy Mayor Wibawa also highlighted the wide range of tourist attractions available in Serangan Island, including spiritual and cultural tourism. Tourists have the opportunity to explore several stunning Hindu temples such as Sakenan Temple, Arrangement Wadon Temple, and Dalem Cemara Temple, as well as the Assyuhada Mosque.

He also emphasized the various ways tourists can connect with nature during their visit. Marine enthusiasts can enjoy fishing, snorkeling, parasailing, and surfing. Those with a deep appreciation for the natural world often find value in guided tours of the Turtle Conservation and Education Centre.

In the coming years, tourism in Serangan Island will receive a financial boost as leaders aim to develop the area into a prominent destination alongside its neighboring areas of Sanur, Nusa Dua, and Tanjung Benoa. Two “special economic zones” will be established: the Bali Turtle Special Economic Zone, catering to coastal and oceanic enthusiasts seeking a classic beach holiday, and the Kura Kura Special Economic Zone, focusing on tourism infrastructure for those wishing to explore the cultural treasures of southern Bali.
