The current batch of barista training courses will encompass 28 local participants, thereby creating additional employment prospects for young individuals while enhancing the quality of service and skill available at Bali’s cafes. This program is slated to be repeated on numerous occasions in the years ahead.
The training sessions are being conducted in the Badung Regency, the administrative region encompassing popular Bali destinations such as Kuta, Seminyak, Legian, Canggu, and Uluwatu.
I Made Widiana, the Head of the Badung Regency Office for Small Business and Trade, expressed that the training is designed to augment the abilities of young individuals already engaged as baristas, as well as those aspiring to secure employment in Bali’s thriving cafe sector.
Widiana stated, “Coffee shops are currently in vogue; even coffee enthusiasts exhibit considerable skill. Young people also exhibit a strong inclination toward frequenting coffee shops, hence, our department responsible for facilitation is providing training to broaden their horizons.”
He further mentioned that participants will be furnished with resources to expand their knowledge about the diverse range of coffee available in Bali and throughout the country, with the intention of promoting Balinese coffee to an international audience.
Widiana expressed his pride in sharing that participants will receive support to establish their own coffee shops and coffee-related ventures, emphasizing that the Regent of Badung, I Nyoman Giri Prasta, has endorsed the allocation of investment funds.
Widiana elaborated, “We will subsidize the interest, meaning we will facilitate credit through one of the banks. We will collaborate in the future. The government will bear the interest, thus ensuring seamless connectivity and minimal burden. This is currently under discussion.”
