Balinese cuisine is known for its unique and distinctive flavors, and one of the most sought-after specialties is the Seaweed Rujak Bulung. This particular culinary creation is said to be a unique Balinese concoction that is beloved by locals and visitors alike.

The main ingredient in this traditional Balinese dish is seaweed, which is harvested from the waters surrounding Bali. Almost all of the western and northern coastal areas of Bali have vast expanses of seaweed, and most of it is exported. However, the locals of Bali have been utilizing this valuable commodity for various purposes, including making delicious dishes such as Rujak Bulung.

Rujak Bulung is still very much a part of the Balinese traditional food and many tourists make it a point to sample it on their culinary tours of the island. The type of seaweed that is typically used in this dish is green seaweed. The fresh seaweed is mixed with fried soybeans, grated young coconut, and chili sauce to create a flavorful and spicy dish that can be customized according to one’s preference. The dish is then finished off with a pindang sauce.
