Airbnb Unveils Summer 2023 Travel Highlights: Bali and Kuta Utara Lead as Most Desired Destinations

Airbnb has recently unveiled its travel highlights for summer 2023, and it comes as no surprise that Bali remains a popular choice.

The upcoming summer of 2023 is expected to be a significant season for travel, with Bali continuing to be one of the most sought-after and dreamt-about destinations among holidaymakers worldwide.

As the World Health Organization officially declares the end of the pandemic, Airbnb anticipates over 300 million guests making bookings through their platform by the end of the year.

The company has also shared insights into the destinations that travelers aspire to visit. With Airbnb’s wishlist feature being available for over a decade, users have created more than one billion wishlists since its launch, showcasing the immense desire to explore new places. Interestingly, this year has seen a 30% increase in wishlists compared to 2021, indicating that travelers have big dreams of experiencing Bali.

Airbnb’s data reveals the efficacy of wishlisting. Nearly a third of all bookings made last year involved a listing that had been previously wishlisted by users. Furthermore, the platform has unveiled the top ten most wishlisted stays of all time, which encompass various locations worldwide, including Europe, the USA, and, of course, Bali. Notably, two Airbnb listings from Bali have secured spots in this prestigious list: the Balian Treehouse and the 180* View Villa. While these listings are highly sought-after, they may not be the most renowned accommodations in Bali.

The most iconic and highly demanded Airbnbs in Bali often come at a premium price and are typically booked out months, or even years, in advance. What sets the Balian Treehouse and the 180* View Villa apart and makes them highly wishlisted is their reasonable pricing, good availability, breathtaking locations, exceptional hospitality, and unparalleled comfort.

The Balian Treehouse, located in Balian Beach on the southwest coast of the island, is a super host stay renowned for its bamboo architecture. This laidback surfing town boasts beautiful black sand beaches, making it an underrated gem in Bali.

Further north, travelers may stumble upon the 180* View Villa, completed in 2015. This Airbnb listing is situated in one of the few remaining untouched landscapes in Bali. With uninterrupted views of the jungle and the ocean, as well as luxurious coziness, the 180* View Villa offers a truly indulgent experience for its guests.

Bamboo houses, such as the Balian Treehouse, continue to be in high demand across Bali. Thanks to the influence of social media, these dreamy treehouses and bamboo shalas have become iconic features of travel in Bali. The island offers an increasing number of bamboo homes to explore, each living up to their stunning online portrayal.

Airbnb’s recently released travel data not only highlights the popularity of stays in Bali but also showcases the growing international interest in traveling to the island. Kuta Utara (North Kuta) stands out as one of the most frequently searched travel destinations worldwide on the Airbnb platform. The number of searches for stays in the Kuta area surpasses those for Rome in Italy, Barcelona in Spain, and London in the UK.

According to Airbnb’s data for the first quarter of 2023, Kuta Utara has emerged as the trendiest summer travel destination globally. It is worth noting that Kuta Utara does not include Kuta Beach but refers to the stretch of coastline from Seminyak’s Petitenget Beach to Canggu’s Berawa Beach, extending inland as far as Abianbase.
